The Downbeat 5

The Boston based band The Downbeat 5 came together in late 2000. Since then they have played an average of 50 shows a year and released an EP as well as a self titled debut album on Sympathy for the Record Industry in 2003.

The band puts on a hard rocking show that forces you to dance. After a few shows you will be singing along. The music can best be described as a mix of punk and surf that comes together to make pure rock.. The power vocals of Jen Rassler with the energetic guitar of JJ Rassler and the power rhythm section made up of bassist Mike Yocco and drummer Eric Almquist make this sound unique. Even the cover songs take on a Downbeat 5 vibe.

The band has a loyal following up and down the east coast were they play regularly. At home in Boston they pack their favorite haunts. They have received recognition from local radio and press. None of this has let them ease off their tuff work ethic. They are currently in the studio working on their second album.
